The Journey Began With Movement

Carla discovered her passion for social dance in 2008 when she attended her first Latin rhythm night in Porto. That single evening sparked a decade-and-a-half journey into community event curation — one that's shaped how she approaches building authentic dance spaces across Portugal.

After completing her degree in Event Management from the Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias in Lisbon in 2010, she worked with cultural organizations before establishing herself as an independent event coordinator in 2012. But her real breakthrough came in 2015. That's when she pioneered the first beachside dance social in Nazaré — an event that now attracts over 200 participants monthly and has become a model replicated in other coastal towns.

What drives Carla's work is simple: she believes dance should be accessible, judgment-free, and deeply connected to Portugal's rich cultural heritage. Her approach centers on removing barriers to participation. She's bridged traditional Portuguese music with contemporary Latin rhythms in ways that regional tourism boards and community centers have recognized. More importantly, the people who show up — the over-45 community looking for genuine social connection — keep coming back.

At Lrintex Lda, she now curates comprehensive guides and strategies for weekend dance meetups. She's passionate about helping mature adults discover movement-based social connections. She's driven by the belief that music and movement are powerful tools for social connection, particularly for those navigating life's transitions and seeking authentic community.

What She Specializes In

Carla's expertise spans the full spectrum of social dance programming for mature adults in Portugal.

Beachside Dance Socials

Organizing inclusive outdoor dance events in coastal towns like Nazaré. She's built the framework that brings together experienced dancers and newcomers for sunset socials that feel authentic.

Latin Rhythm Nights

Creating themed Latin dance events in Portimão and across the Algarve. She curates playlists, coordinates instructors, and designs experiences that blend traditional Portuguese culture with contemporary rhythms.

Themed Costume Parties

Designing and executing costume-themed dance parties that add playfulness and creativity to social gatherings. She understands how themes remove self-consciousness and build community energy.

Community Building

She's developed strategies for connecting people through movement. Whether it's first-time dancers or experienced movers, Carla creates environments where real friendships form through shared rhythm.

Weekend Event Planning

She's mastered the logistics of recurring weekend dance meetups. Scheduling, venue coordination, instructor booking, and participant management — she handles the operational side so people just show up and dance.

Content & Guides

At Lrintex Lda, she writes comprehensive guides on how to organize dance socials, what makes events successful, and how to foster genuine community connections through movement.

How She Approaches Community Building

Carla doesn't believe in cookie-cutter event formulas. Every dance social she designs reflects the unique culture of its location and the specific needs of its community. That's why her Nazaré events feel different from her Portimão gatherings — even though they're built on the same core principles.

Her methodology starts with listening. She talks to people in the over-45 community about what they're looking for. They're not interested in high-pressure dance lessons. They want to move, connect with others, and feel part of something meaningful. That's what she creates.

Carla removes barriers systematically. No judgment about skill level. No complicated dress codes. Just clear information, welcoming spaces, and music that speaks to both heritage and contemporary taste. She's learned that when people feel safe, they show up. When they show up consistently, real community forms.

What sets her work apart is the attention to small details. The playlist progression that builds energy without overwhelming. The mix of experienced dancers and newcomers that creates natural mentoring. The themed events that give people permission to be playful. She's thought through how every element contributes to people wanting to return.

"Dance isn't about being perfect. It's about moving together, sharing rhythm, and building connections that last. When people feel that's what an event offers — not judgment, but genuine community — they become advocates. They bring friends. They come back week after week."
